Responsibilities

  • Work as a key strategic partner and trusted legal advisor to the Project Management team throughout the project life‑cycle.
  • Provide professional, tailored legal advice, including but not limited to:
  • General interpretation and application of main project contracts and supply chain documents.
  • Third‑party and regulated obligations where appropriate.
  • Support the procurement team in drafting and negotiating supply chain contracts.
  • Assist in avoiding and reducing formal claims and disputes, and manage formal disputes with external counsel as required.
  • Interpret, apply and prepare compensation events and relief events.
  • Assistance and management of data capture, document management, and record‑keeping requirements.
  • Advise on UK regulatory frameworks including safety, environmental obligations and data protection.
  • Monitor, train, and ensure compliance with applicable law and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with the UK&I Legal team to develop and implement strategies, policies and practices for project legal, contractual and regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare effective, legally enforceable contractual documentation.
  • Maintain knowledge of and comply with all relevant Ferrovial Construction policies, procedures, and the Ferrovial Group Code of Ethics.
  • Represent the Project and Ferrovial professionally, positively and respectfully.
  • Demonstrate safety leadership and participate in continual improvement of safety and environmental plans.
  • Notify management promptly of any safety, environmental, or hazardous incidents.
  • Stay compliant with site Health & Safety Plans, emergency procedures, and Environmental Plans.
  • Participate in safety forums, drills, trials, and inspections.
  • Protect Ferrovial property, documents, and data, maintaining confidentiality and security requirements.
  • Ensure fitness for work, supporting colleagues and direct reports to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Oversee and manage all legal aspects of project delivery for a major project.
  • Draft, negotiate, and settle downstream procurement contracts and advise on project contracts.
  • Set up and monitor contract administration procedures, providing training as needed.
  • Identify and advise on risks during delivery.
  • Advise on claims and disputes in conjunction with external counsel.
  • Assist in dispute avoidance, management, and resolution.
  • Attend tender, contract, and dispute resolution discussions and negotiations.
  • Prepare reports, memoranda, correspondence, and other documents as necessary.
  • Participate in legal and commercial processes related to project operations across relevant phases.
  • Respond to enquiries and complaints promptly, notifying relevant project members and client representatives.
  • Assist the project team in organising approvals and permits.

Qualifications

  • Admitted as a solicitor of England and Wales, or qualified in another common‑law jurisdiction.
  • Minimum 7 years of unrestricted practising legal experience, skilled in negotiating, drafting, and advising on project and supply contracts.
  • Experience in dispute resolution, claims management, litigation, and settlement negotiations is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience acting within a mega infrastructure or civil construction portfolio.
  • Knowledge of UK safety and environmental legislation, contract and commercial law in construction and government projects.
  • Strong understanding of contract law and its application in construction civil and government project environments.
  • Previous experience working within project‑oriented teams.
  • Ability to coordinate legal information sessions when required.
