The Digital Solutions Engineer (DSE) is a sales and technical role focused on customer needs and is part of the sales organization. The DSE’s primary responsibility is to support F5 Digital Account Managers with technical skills and provide technical knowledge around F5 solutions to our customers. To be effective, a DSE needs to have good technical skills and knowledge of both F5 products and the ecosystem that we work in. We do provide training and certification to keep abreast of these critical skills!
The high-level objective is to achieve the allocated sales target and sell relevant F5 solutions and products to our customers’ business needs, in partnership with the Digital Account Manager. From our customer(s) perspective, the DSE is a trusted adviser who proactively learns and understands their technical and business challenges and is able to propose effective solutions to mitigate their concerns. The F5 DSE not only presents the technical features but also business benefits in the Technical Value Proposition.
What you’ll do:
- Articulate the F5 product strategy, messaging, and positioning of F5’s value proposition and solutions for customer business objectives.
- Provide technical expertise through sales presentations, solution designs, solution demonstrations, and proof of concepts by various mediums – virtual presentations, whiteboards, etc.
- Determine the viability of opportunities.
- Drive the sales process in partnership with the Digital Territory Account Manager, by identifying the Technical Decision Maker, getting their technical validation, support, and sponsorship.
- Consistently provide world-class customer service throughout the customer lifecycle.
- Work collaboratively with internal technical and sales resources, updating, offering, and seeking expertise as needed in various opportunities.
- Interact directly with customers and technology partners, work on solution development, out-of-the-box thinking, creativity, and assist with their technical requirements from design, configuration up to solution onboarding and production needs.
How you’ll do it:
- Understanding of one or more of the following concepts:
- Web Applications
- Industry trends and cycles
- DNS
- Network Firewall, Authentication, Acceleration
- Confirmed writing skills, with an emphasis on deployment guides, how-to guides, technical enablement materials, and blogs.
- Good understanding of the OSI layers and protocols, particularly web application protocols (HTML, HTTP, JSON, XML, etc.).
- Relevant networking or security certifications are advantageous.
- Confirmed hands-on experience with networking technologies and implementations (TCP/IP, VLANs, IP addressing and subnetting, NAT, etc.).
- Deep understanding of technology drivers in the market such as: DevOps and SecOps methodologies, Microservices, automation and orchestration tools, and CI/CD processes. Familiarity with the following technologies in this space includes one or many: NGINX, HAProxy, Ansible, Terraform, Grafana, Jenkins, OpenShift, K8s, and Containerized architectures are a plus.
- Familiarity with automation and orchestration concepts/RESTful APIs.
- Ability to describe vulnerabilities and threats.
- Understanding of Security risks to Web Applications (e.g., OWASP Top 10).
- Exposure to microservices and cloud-native application architectures.
- Exposure to Agile Development Practices.
- Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, and SCM tools.
What you’ll bring:
- BS/BA or equivalent work experience.
- Must have 5+ years of experience supporting technical sales and/or partner-led sales of enterprise applications and cybersecurity solutions to corporate accounts.
- Effective written and verbal communication, listening, negotiation, and presentation skills. Experience with the MS Office suite.
- Familiarity/experience with F5 NGINX or similar industry solution deployment is a plus.
- Relevant certifications are a plus.
