Desktop Support Engineer

Salary: £26,000 – £30,000 per annumLocation: On-site in Barrow-in-FurnessClearance: Sole UK Nationals only – eligible for SC Security Clearance

About the Role:

  • We're looking for an organised, hands-on Desktop Support Engineer to join a dedicated on-site team supporting a secure government environment. You'll play a key role in delivering high-quality IT support across Install, Move, Add and Change (IMAC) activities, ensuring users have the right equipment, configured correctly, and ready to perform.
  • This role suits either an experienced IT Support Engineer or a career-changer with solid technical aptitude looking to grow within a structured, professional environment.

What You'll Do:

  • Device Management: Build, configure, and rebuild user devices in line with service requirements.
  • Inventory & Stock Control: Maintain accurate hardware records and follow stock control processes, including allocation and disposal.
  • Service Coordination: Manage IMAC activities from initiation to completion, ensuring timely delivery against SLAs.
  • Customer Experience: Provide a friendly, professional service at all times, supporting users on-site and ensuring minimal disruption.

  • Working knowledge of Windows 7-10 and common software installation processes.
