An exciting opportunity has opened for an experienced Technical Lead to join an innovative technology business shaping the future of AI-enabled software engineering. This is a unique opportunity for a senior technical professional who enjoys staying hands-on — someone who wants to influence architecture, write code, solve complex engineering challenges and help teams adopt the next generation of AI-assisted development practices. This isn’t a traditional management role. You’ll act as a senior technical authority across the organisation, helping define the future technology direction while remaining close to the engineering challenges that matter.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Defining scalable, secure architecture across a growing product portfolio
  • Leading technical strategy and architectural decision-making
  • Staying hands-on with coding, reviews and complex technical challenges
  • Driving adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices across development teams
  • Establishing engineering standards, patterns and best practices
  • Improving software quality, scalability, security and delivery consistency
  • Mentoring engineers and helping build a stronger technical culture

AI & Engineering Innovation:

You’ll play a key role in helping the organisation adopt AI-powered engineering practices, including:

  • Prompt engineering and LLM-based tooling
  • Automated code review, testing and documentation approaches
  • Responsible AI practices and governance frameworks
  • Identifying new opportunities to improve engineering productivity

What we’re looking for:

  • Senior engineering, architecture or technical leadership experience
  • Strong hands-on software engineering background (C#, Java or similar)
  • Experience designing scalable software architectures and cloud-based solutions
  • Strong Azure experience and understanding of modern DevOps practices
  • Experience introducing AI tools and LLM-based workflows into engineering teams
  • Strong understanding of secure coding, automation, CI/CD and engineering best practice
  • Ability to mentor, influence and communicate across technical and non-technical teams
  • Experience within SaaS, regulated industries, ISO 27001/ISO 42001 environments, or building AI governance frameworks would be highly advantageous.

The opportunity:

  • Shape architecture across a growing technology portfolio
  • Lead the adoption of AI-enabled engineering practices
  • Influence technical strategy at an organisational level
  • Remain hands-on while operating at a senior technical level

If you’re a senior engineer, architect or technical leader who wants to help shape how modern software teams build with AI, I’d love to hear from you. Please get in touch for more information.

How to prepare for a job interview at F5 consultants

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If F5 consultants uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
