We’re recruiting for a number of Lead QA Automation Engineers to play a key role in delivering large-scale, mission‑critical digital services for a major public sector programme. This is a true Lead role where you will own quality strategy, setting standards, and guiding high‑performing engineering teams across complex, cloud‑based and legacy environments.
What you’ll be doing:
- Providing technical and strategic leadership for Quality Engineering across one or more delivery teams
- Defining and embedding modern QA and test automation approaches aligned to Agile and DevOps ways of working
- Influencing delivery outcomes by working closely with engineering, product, and architecture stakeholders
- Driving continuous improvement in tooling, practices, and quality culture
- Coaching, mentoring, and developing engineers, supporting both technical growth and performance
- Shaping and promoting best practice across the wider QE community
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience in a Lead Quality Engineer / Lead QE / Test Lead role within complex delivery environments
- Deep understanding of quality engineering principles, test strategy, and test automation at scale
- Strong background in Agile delivery and iterative software development
- Ability to lead through influence, communicate clearly, and make sound engineering decisions
- Experience balancing delivery quality, risk, and commercial outcomes
- Comfortable working with modern engineering stacks (e.g. API‑driven systems, cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines)
Working model: Hybrid working with 2–3 days per month on client site. UK-based candidates only. Security Clearance (SC) eligibility is essential.
