Application Support Engineer
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 + up to 15% bonus + profit share scheme
Location: Central Bristol - 3 days onsite / 2 days WFH
Type: Permanent
We're recruiting for an experienced Application Support Technician to join the IT team of an international law firm in Bristol.
You'll be part of a dedicated 3rd-line team supporting around 140 business applications, including SaaS, desktop and server-based systems. The role involves investigating complex application issues, supporting upgrades and releases, and working with other IT teams to resolve problems.
Responsibilities
- Provide 3rd-line support for business applications, investigating and resolving technical issues.
- Troubleshoot problems involving applications, SQL databases, Windows Server and related infrastructure.
- Investigate issues with APIs and integrations between applications.
- Support application upgrades, releases, patching and testing.
- Work with infrastructure teams, developers and third-party suppliers.
- Manage incidents, problems and changes in line with ITIL processes.
- Create technical documentation and help improve support processes.
What They're Looking For
- Experience in 3rd-line application support or a technical support role involving hands-on application troubleshooting.
- Good knowledge of Windows Server, Microsoft 365 and Active Directory.
- Experience with SQL Server and T-SQL.
- Understanding of how applications interact with servers, databases and other systems.
- Practical experience with ITIL Incident, Problem and Change Management.
- Experience with application upgrades, deployments or project work.
- Good troubleshooting and communication skills.
