We are an agency recruiting for a Vehicle Recovery Controller for a well-established, local Vehicle Recovery Operator.

Working on the telephone, receiving calls from customers including Motoring Organisations, the Police, Highways agencies and the general public, prioritising jobs and dispatching resources to attend rescue and recovery incidents throughout West Yorkshire and surrounding areas. The control room operates 24/7 and the environment is fast-moving, busy and can be highly pressurised.

Please Note: the hiring company has two large dogs onsite for security. They are friendly but we have a duty of care to notify applicants who have allergies or phobias.

Experience & Skills:

  • Applicants MUST have the following skills and experience:
  • Transport logistics, work-load dispatch and driver management.
  • Good geographical knowledge of Yorkshire and surrounding counties.
  • Able to work on their own initiative and take charge of the situation; managing the job from initial contact to completion.
  • Prioritise workloads in a pressurised and fast-moving environment.
  • Superb telephone, administrative, organisational and IT skills.
  • Calm and professional approach.
  • Proven track record dealing with customers at all levels.
  • Ability to empathise and understand that there is never a good time to break down.
  • Be prepared to muck in when required.
  • Some lone working is required, including at night. The office is locked and there is no public interaction outside of office hours.
  • Emergency at Work First Aid course and Fire Marshal Training is required as part of role (training will be provided).
  • Experience of the breakdown & recovery or automotive industries is an advantage but not essential.

Training:

Training will be given as part of an induction program and additional systems training.

Shift & Hours:

4 on / 4 off roster; rotating between 07:00 - 19:00 and 19:00-07:00. Will include weekends and Bank Holiday working as part of the roster. Restrictions are placed on Annual Leave over the Christmas & New Year season.

Salary:

£13.00 per hour to start rising to £15.00 after a successful training and probation period.

Job Status:

Permanent with immediate interviews and starts.

Vetting:

Our client will undertake vetting including referencing for up to 5 years and will require a basic DBS check; therefore, if you have any criminal convictions or cautions in the UK or abroad, you MUST declare them to us at the time of applying.
