A fantastic opportunity is available for an HGV2 Recovery Driver to join this well-established local automotive, breakdown and recovery business. Based from the Bedford depot, the successful HGV2 Recovery Driver will work a Day Shift pattern which will include weekends and Bank Holidays as part of a rolling roster.
Recovery driving can be very rewarding and the salary competitive based upon the hours you are prepared to work and your flexibility. No previous experience of Recovery Driving is required as the company will train in all aspects of the job role; however, candidates must have a minimum of 12-months HGV Driving experience to apply for the role. The successful Recovery Driver will join this hardworking and dedicated team assisting customers who have broken down by the roadside.
As a Recovery Driver, the main duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Minor Roadside Repairs (Jump starts, Wheel Changes Etc.)
- Vehicle Breakdown Recovery
- Traffic Collision Recovery
- Compound Recovery (on behalf of Police)
- Using the Vehicle Recovery App to complete accurate data on vehicle diagnosis
- Assisting customers in their time of need and being trained to load vehicles onto the recovery truck and transport to a designated drop-off point.
To be considered for the role, you must be self-motivated and able to work on your own initiative. The company requires all candidates to have at least 1 year’s commercial driving experience in an HGV2 vehicle or higher category. In addition, the following key skills and experience are essential:
- Minimum HGV2 licence with no more than 3 points on the licence for minor endorsements and no outstanding DD, DR or CD penalty points
- Digi Tacho and full current DCPC
- Confident and personable when talking to customers
- A willingness to learn and enthusiasm to work as a team in all situations and in all weather conditions
- Empathetic and appreciative of the stressful situation that customers can find themselves in
Due to the nature of the position, all applicants will be required to undertake enhanced police vetting and therefore all employment offers shall be subject to undertaking and passing this procedure.
Training: The company would prefer experienced Recovery drivers; however, they will offer full training if required.
Shift Pattern: 10 days from 14 to include one full weekend (days off in the week) and one weekend off. Hours: 07:00-19:00
Example Shift Pattern: Monday 7am to 7pm, Tuesday 7am to 7pm, Wednesday 7am to 7pm, Thursday Off, Friday 7am to 7pm, Saturday 7am to 7pm, Sunday 7am to 7pm, Monday 7am to 7pm, Tuesday Off, Wednesday 7am to 7pm, Thursday 7am to 7pm, Friday 7am to 7pm, Saturday Off, Sunday Off.
Alternative Shifts & Hours: The company is very flexible and may also be able to offer other shift patterns including Perm Nights or Part-Time Weekend Working. Overtime is available on request.
Vetting: Our client will undertake vetting including referencing up to 5 years. They will also require an enhanced Police Records check (NPPV Level 1 or 2). If you have any criminal convictions or cautions in the UK or abroad, you MUST declare them to us at the time of applying.
