Engineering Manager – Europe

Lead and grow a team of over 25 engineers at Ashby, focusing on autonomy, ownership, and minimal process interference.

Responsibilities

  • Build and mentor a high‑performing engineering team, focusing on skill development and autonomous project ownership.
  • Provide feedback on product and technical specifications to guide scope and quality decisions.
  • Coach engineers to handle large, loosely defined projects, driving them to completion.
  • Participate in the codebase as needed—debug, bug fixes, and improving developer experience while staying off the critical path.
  • Own and improve internal systems, such as demo account data generation and simulation, impacting engineering, QA, and sales.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical background with ability to engage in in‑depth conversations across infra, backend, and frontend.
  • Experience in people management; adept at giving feedback, coaching, and building growth systems.
  • Excellent communicator capable of facilitating change and navigating complex team dynamics.
  • Deep understanding of what makes exceptional engineers and how to recruit and grow them.
  • Comfortable in high‑trust, high‑autonomy environments; willing to build own feedback loops.
  • Enthusiastic about maintaining coding skills and staying current with technology.
