The Position

Country Tax Lead

This position is responsible for the Roche Companies’ tax compliance, tax planning and accounting for all applicable taxes. Reporting directly to Group Tax in headquarter, the successful candidate will work with businesses and in daily activities he/she will mainly interact with local Finance colleagues, accounting shared services center and other tax professionals in carrying out his or her responsibilities. The ideal candidate is a team player who manages the tax team to greater performance, creates and implements tax plans and works with the business and local Finance to identify opportunities and potential areas of risk. The Tax Director will ensure both compliance and business partnership.

Essential Job Duties

  • Lead and mentor the local tax team to greater levels of effectiveness and engagement
  • Supervise external tax consultants
  • Manage Local Tax Operations (Returns, Payments)
  • Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process
  • Provide instructions for Tax Accounting and Payments
  • Manage Transfer Pricing according to Group Policy
  • Implement Global Tax Policies
  • Interactions with local Tax Authorities and Tax Audits
  • Business support

Qualifications

  • Extensive years of experience in a multinational company either in a tax function or finance areas with exposure to taxes - or from an accounting and tax services advisory company.
  • Good understanding of local taxes, mainly corporate taxes and VAT
  • Experience in a leadership management role with remote/virtual leadership experience (role could expand to lead a group of 3-4 people)
  • Professional qualification in Accounting, Finance or Tax expected
  • Good accounting knowledge and familiarity to use of the business IT systems – Microsoft Office, SAP and Google being the main ones
  • Fluent in spoken and written English including business-English
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Process oriented and problem solving mindset, attention to detail
  • Communication skills both providing information and gathering information, ability to create network inside and outside of the finance and taxes area
  • Strong ability to utilize project management and accounting best practices to organize and prioritize tasks and the tasks of other tax team members.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as the ability to work well with stakeholders and communicate the benefits of tax initiatives.
  • Knowledge and experience in the health care industry of advantage (primarily pharma or diagnostics)
