The Global Program Manager (GPM) at Roche/Genentech is a core member of molecule/disease area teams, driving drug or disease area development programs to maximize efficiency, portfolio value, and patient benefit. This role contributes to the company's bold ambition to deliver 20 transformative medicines by 2030 by co‑creating and delivering the portfolio effectively and efficiently.
The Opportunity
- Be a core member of one or more molecule/disease area teams and drive drug or disease area development programs as well as established (foundational) product teams to maximize efficiency, portfolio value and patient benefit.
- Provide strategic program management to project teams, framing and assessing options, and identifying inflection points and critical factors for project delivery, decision‑making and governance.
- Guide molecule teams, in close collaboration with the respective team leader.
- Build and maintain highly functioning project teams by observing team dynamics, building trust, addressing issues and encouraging open dialogues.
- Keep teams on track to deliver short-, mid- and long‑term activities to achieve team objectives and drive key program/project meetings & workshops, team communication and documentation.
- Lead and contribute to functional or company‑wide initiative workstreams (may).
- Contribute to portfolio management by reporting and proactively maintaining key project information to support portfolio overview and decisions.
- Maintain program and project management guidelines, standards, and tools as required.
- Drive implementation and execution of program strategy identification and mitigation of program risks.
- Leverage molecule development and market expertise to accelerate high quality decisions, lead effective ways of working, and catalyze change.
- Foster a teaching, coaching, and learning culture and embody OneRoche leadership principles such as VACC – Visionary, Architect, Catalyst, Coach within the MPM community, the PSD chapter and teams.
Addendum for the Evidence GPM Role
Support Integrated Evidence Planning: This involves a global strategic planning process for evidence generation across functions to ensure broad and sustainable patient access to medicines by defining all necessary evidence for regulatory, access, and clinical practice throughout a product's lifecycle.
Scope of Authority
The role is accountable for Program Oversight and Planning, Team Management, Communication, Portfolio Context, and Strategic Thought Partnership. It involves influencing R&D across many therapeutic areas and requires interactions with partners across the organization, including Clinical Development, Regulatory, Medical Affairs and Commercial organizations. The GPM guides molecule teams and contributes to portfolio management and functional or company‑wide initiative workstreams, demonstrating influence without explicit authority at various organizational levels.
Who you are
- Talented and passionate, inspired by the shared purpose of being key partners in translating Roche strategies into PD priorities and beyond and delivering the portfolio with excellence.
- Experienced in using different Project Management, Change Management, Business Management or related tools, methodologies & approaches to drive the team’s development of a strategy and achieve the desired outcomes for a program/project/function, effectively and efficiently.
- Solid drug development and potentially commercial experience, and a proven track record of driving comprehensive program strategies.
- Belief in the principles of Learning/Growth, Enabler, Value Creation, and Enterprise Mindset.

Working Conditions
This role is based onsite at our Welwyn, United Kingdom office. Our team follows a hybrid work structure, requiring a fixed number of onsite days per week.
