The Position

What to expect:

The Field Application Specialist NGS is responsible for supporting customers of all the assays and reagents from the Roche Sequencing Solutions product portfolio. You will be the direct contact for application-related inquiries from our field staff and our customers in hospitals, research and private laboratories.

As Field Application Specialist you have the following tasks:

  • Application support for all Roche Sequencing Products and Assays
  • Together with the Service team - installation support and customer training for Roche Sequencing Systems
  • Troubleshooting remotely (email, phone etc) and in the field to answer inquiries and resolve problems with Roche Sequencing Products
  • Co-creating and conducting customer application trainings for all Roche Diagnostics Sequencing products
  • Assisting the local sales and marketing organizations with your expertise
  • Occasionally working with liquid handlers and their respected vendors
  • Monitoring the service processes and overall product/system quality
  • Attending internal meetings and events (remotely and in person) as well as external events (seminars, conferences etc)
  • Experience working with liquid handlers for NGS sample prep

You should be resilient, and tenacious. You thrive under pressure, working effectively as part of a close-knit team in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment with shifting priorities and multiple deadlines. With strong analytical skills, you are at ease working with technical, scientific and numeric information. You will be working closely with the wider team and all other areas of Roche to provide excellent support for our customers.

You ideally be based in the central region of the UK.

  • You will focus on the UK & Ireland territory, but you are ready to travel to other European countries on occasion
  • You are based in the vicinity of an airport
  • Travel - even short-term - to other European countries motivates you
  • You have successfully completed your studies in the natural sciences (e.g. biology, chemistry, medicine) and ideally obtained a PhD
  • Prior professional experience in a research or service institution where you have acquired in-depth knowledge of NGS technologies
  • Experience in establishing NGS workflows on different liquid handling systems is an advantage
  • Having basic understanding of bioinformatics is also a plus
  • Good knowledge of the IVD market as well as in-depth scientific knowledge in genomics, oncology and the product and market environment
  • Can quickly analyze problems and present an adequate solution
  • Already worked in projects and have experience in project management
  • Enjoy working in an intercultural team and are a competent partner for customers and colleagues
  • You speak English fluently.
