The Position
As a Safety Business Analyst (BA) you will be responsible for scoping, planning and supporting the successful implementation of process automation solutions by providing business analysis, best practice research, detailed requirements and user stories definition and user acceptance facilitation. In addition, you will be required to work closely with Business Users, Product Owners, Product Managers, IT Business Partners and IT Architects to develop a conceptual architecture for the solutions. The Safety BA is an active role in the product’s lifecycle management. The primary focus is to make sure that a solution is chosen to fulfil known and understood business requirements, fitting into the Product roadmap definitions and continuously providing business value over its lifecycle.
What you’ll be working on:
- Actively engage with IT Product Manager and IT Business Partner in the portfolio management processes.
- Lead and drive the scoping phase of automation use cases. Collaborate with business and informatics stakeholders to lead the business case development for new initiatives including high level solution options and resource estimates.
- Translates the IT enabled business strategy developed by the C-Pod into an Informatics context and works with IT Product Managers, IT Business Partners and IT Architects to develop project proposals and roadmaps that support the strategy.
- Support the business partner and IT Business Partner to obtain project approval from the portfolio committees, e.g. PD PEC, PDx MEP etc.
- Drive the identification of the most appropriate solution for Roche through formal RFI/RFP/RFQ (Request for Information/Proposal/Quotation) processes. Evaluate feasibility of potential solutions in collaboration with business users and Subject Matter Experts.
- Prepare mandatory deliverables supporting the PMM “initiate” and “define” phases together with the Project Manager.
- On the basis of identified business needs, is responsible for establishing user requirements and any related documentation as required by PMM.
- Participate in Squads working on significant enhancements to understand business needs and translate them into requirements.
- Strives for harmonization of business processes across sites and departments by propagating common standardized data models, applications and technologies that are in line with the cross-functional or functional Informatics strategies and architectures.
- Drives cross functional teamwork by collaborating with BAs within Chapter and across Org Units to continuously harmonize and further develop skills and working practices specific to the BA community.
- Determine the automation potential of each particular process in order to filter out those unfit for automation to narrow down the scope of work.
- Drive definition of KPIs and compare the expected results to the actual ones to ensure automation is bringing the expected value in terms of acceleration or quality increase.
- Adopt Agile delivery methodologies to speed up user feedback cycles and E2E delivery timelines.
- Creation of automation architecture and solution proposals.
- Develops RPA and BPA prototypes, mockups and Proofs of Concept.
The ideal candidate:
- Has Bachelor / Master of Science in Computer Science, engineering, Biostats, etc.
- Has domain knowledge of the pharmaceutical, Pharma Development or Life Science industry, or from a consulting firm.
- Has extensive experience with large projects (>1M projects, large number of stakeholders, multi locations/global footprint, complex enterprise solutions).
- Has excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Always demonstrates Leadership in his/her assignments, is able to engage a team towards ambitious goals.
- Leads business analysis activities in multiple projects/programs: fully accountable for BA approach and plan, BA deliverables, lead BAs (1-5 within the team), influence Project Management, make decisions on behalf of business.
- Exhibits strong soft skills typically required as a BA (i.e., active listening, challenging the status quo, ability to communicate complex information, issues, and potential solutions to stakeholders).
- Has excellent knowledge & experience with BA practices.
- Exhibits intellectual curiosity and integrity and has strong passion to bring value-adding technology to the business.
- Has experience working in agile environments and exhibits a mindset in the approach to enable a diverse group of partners to speak with a single voice.
- Experience in building RPA (Robotics Process Automation) and BPA (Business Process Automation) solutions (i.e. UiPath, Pega).
- Identification and recommending of appropriate automation technology platforms best suited for client requirements.
