Job location: Doncaster
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with clients, consultants, systems architects, analysts, and project managers to design and configure complex MES solutions.
- Perform MES business requirements analysis and specifications, system design, application software configuration, development, testing, installation, start-up, and maintenance.
- Provide design and configuration of computer system solutions in support of Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), or MES, integration to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Quality Systems.
- Collaborate with other professionals to determine functional and non-functional requirements for new software or applications.
- Design high-level concepts and user interface (UI) layouts for software applications.
- Develop high-level product specifications with attention to system integration and feasibility.
- Establish coding standards, guidelines, and project practices.
- Provide technical leadership and support to Business Analysts, Project Managers, and other Developers.
- Oversee the design, programming, testing, and deployment of enterprise solutions.
- Validate enterprise solutions and obtain customer feedback.
- Create enterprise software documentation and provide ticket support.
- Coach and mentor junior staff and help them transition into new roles.
- Oversee system integration and application design, architecture development, and support for complex and generic MES platforms.
- Develop, implement, and conduct user and administration training as part of the installation process.
- Provide detailed and complex root-cause analysis support and maintenance to systems hardware and software as required.
- Prepare written reports, technical evaluations, functional specifications, technical documents, proposals, and other assignments as required.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Software Architect.
- Bachelor’s or Graduate’s Degree in computer engineering, computer science, engineering, or information systems, or equivalent experience.
- Excellent knowledge of software and application design and architecture.
- Familiarity with UML and other modelling methods.
- Experience in software development and coding in various languages (e.g., Python, C#, .NET, Java). Proficiency in Python is a plus.
- Understanding of software quality assurance principles.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues
- Bachelor’s or Graduate’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Sciences, Management Information System, Business Management, or other relevant discipline; or, demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training, and successful experience.
- Excellent knowledge of MES platforms and integration with ERP and other enterprise systems.
- Familiarity with GE-IP Proficy Plant Applications (PPA) and MS SQL.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
