We’re looking for Independent End-Point Assessors to join us in assessing the Level 5 Operations Manager Apprenticeship Standard. To be successful in this role, you’ll need experience in the sector within the last three years. Assessments involve a project with report and a professional discussion, underpinned by a portfolio of evidence. Our EPAs are carried out mainly online via video call, so you can be based anywhere in the UK – all you need is a computer, webcam and strong internet connection.
This is a flexible, home-based opportunity: you can manage your own hours for preparation and post-assessment write-up, while keeping some availability during the working day (9–5) to carry out assessments. At 1st for Awarding, we’re passionate about doing the right thing, supporting apprentices to shine, and working with integrity. If that sounds like you – we’d love to chat.
Your responsibilities will cover:
- Responding to assessment bookings in a timely manner
- Carrying out the EPA via video call
- Awarding marks using a defined assessment plan and marking criteria
- Making sound judgements about the standard of the apprentice's knowledge and competence
- Providing robust feedback to the apprentice and arriving at an overall grade
- Attending standardisation meetings twice annually
- Working as part of the 1st for EPA assessment team
- Maintaining your own professional development
We’re looking for people who have:
Essential
- Relevant experience in the sector (within the last 3 years)
- Highly organised
- Reliable and trustworthy
- Able to plan your own schedule and commit to agreed times/booking
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to attend two standardisation activities per year
- Able to complete 30 hours of CPD per CPD year (July‑August)
Desirable
- Experience working as an End‑Point Assessor, Independent Assessor, coach or tutor
- Grading experience
- A good understanding of apprenticeship standards and EPA
- Prevent and safeguarding training
- Assessor qualifications (e.g. CAVA, TAQA, Award in Undertaking EPA, A1)
You’ll be helping apprentices succeed while working flexibly and sharing your expertise with a growing organisation. If this sounds like the right opportunity for you, we’d love to hear from you and explore working together.
