An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Employee Relations Lead to join a leading organisation within the engineering sector. This is a key role responsible for shaping and delivering a proactive employee relations strategy, ensuring a fair, consistent, and commercially focused approach across the business.
You will lead a specialist ER team, partner closely with senior stakeholders, and play a critical role in managing complex casework, developing people policies, and maintaining effective relationships with trade unions.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Employee Relations team
- Oversee and manage complex and high-risk ER casework, including disciplinaries, grievances, and organisational change
- Act as a senior advisor to HR and business leaders on ER matters
- Develop, review, and implement people policies in line with best practice and employment legislation
- Build and maintain strong relationships with trade unions, supporting consultation and negotiation processes
- Drive consistency and continuous improvement in ER processes and case management
- Analyse ER data and trends to inform strategy and proactive interventions
- Proven experience in an Employee Relations leadership role
- Strong background in managing complex casework within a unionised environment
- Experience leading and developing teams
- In-depth knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Strong policy development experience
- Commercially minded with a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach
