Key Responsibilities: * Ensure new engineering personnel are familiarized with relevant procedures and company protocols. * Oversee the efficient operation and maintenance of all safety and anti-pollution systems, adhering to statutory requirements and company policies. * Maintain standby equipment and systems in a state of readiness for emergency situations. * Conduct regular testing of standby systems in line with company procedures. * Immediately report any defects that may compromise vessel safety or pose a risk to the marine environment to the Master. * Assign roles to engineering department personnel in accordance with the Safety Management System (SMS). * Investigate any non-conformances and implement corrective actions as agreed with the Master. * Conduct routine inspections of plant and equipment to ensure proper functioning. * Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the Oil Record Book and Engine Logbook. * Ensure the vessel complies with all aspects of the company’s SMS.
