Overview
Eyes on the Moor is a small, independent optician based in Heaton Moor, Stockport. Our air-conditioned practice is stylish and modern. We specialise in European eyewear, personally selecting all frames and sunglasses. We focus on forming personal connections with our patients to deliver a tailored and enjoyable experience. We’re not your typical optical practice; we think having an eye examination and choosing glasses should be fun. We’re passionate about eyewear, and if you’re passionate about it too, you’ll love it here! We believe in making work as enjoyable as possible, and we like spending time with our patients in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We work with luxury European and Global brands, and we personally select all eyewear. Our eye examinations, including OCT scans, usually last around 45 minutes. We dispense premium lenses in a relaxed and unhurried manner.
Role Description
We’re looking for an experienced and friendly Dispensing Optician or Optical Dispenser to join our growing practice. We’re looking for someone confident in dispensing high-end eyewear. You should be able to provide honest advice and exceptional service to our patients, making them feel valued and appreciated. We build lasting relationships with our patients, family and their pets, and treat everyone like family. Your input is highly valued, and you’ll have close working relationships with the owners in a supportive environment. We sometimes travel to Paris to discover new eyewear, and you could join us on those adventures. Optical industry experience is essential so that you can hit the ground running. You must have at least three years experience of dispensing in an optical practice. If you think you’d be a good fit for this role, we’d love to hear from you!
Responsibilities
- Assist patients in selecting exciting eyewear and premium lenses based on their needs and preferences.
- Conduct measurements for frames and lenses to ensure proper vision, fit and comfort.
- Provide guidance on lens options, coatings, and care instructions.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment.
- Stay updated on optical technology and trends to offer informed recommendations.
- Collaborate with the owners to ensure the smooth running of the practice and optimal patient care.
Qualifications
- Qualified Dispensing Optician registered with ABDO or experienced Optical Dispenser with over 3 years experience.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to interpret eyewear prescriptions and provide appropriate eyewear solutions
- Ability to take relevant measurements to dispense single vision and multifocal prescriptions.
- Familiarity with optical equipment and tools used in optical dispensing and adjustments.
We are looking for full time ideally but part-time would be considered.
