Can a machine read the gene from the picture? That's the question our team works on every day, and we're looking for someone to help lead it.
We're hiring a Senior Data Scientist
Eye2Gene ranks candidate genes across 60+ inherited retinal disease (IRD) genes from retinal imaging. It also measures 16+ biomarkers consistently on every image and flags fast progressors for gene therapy trials. Our team has segmented over 45,000 FAF images from more than 3,600 patients, and validated our models on patients from five hospitals in four countries.
Now we need someone to help take this further.
In this hands-on senior role, you'll:
- Lead the development and deployment of our Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) and AI models, in Python and on AWS
- Build production-ready pipelines within a regulated lifecycle (GAMP 5, IEC 62304)
- Lead statistical analysis that informs clinical, scientific and product decisions
- Mentor junior team members, working alongside developers, scientists, clinicians and quality colleagues
We'd like to hear from you if you have a PhD (or equivalent) and 5+ years applying machine learning to medical imaging. You should be comfortable with evaluation beyond accuracy: calibration, uncertainty, subgroup analysis and external validation. Experience with retinal imaging, IRDs or medical device regulation is a bonus, not a requirement.
London (Paddington), in person
Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK
More than 4 in 10 people with an IRD in the UK are still waiting to learn which gene is behind their sight
Know someone who'd be a great fit? Please share this with them.
