- Title: Optical Supervisor

- Job Summary
Optical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational functions for their assigned optical and contact lens department, ensuring that office policies, procedures, and plans are executed in a smooth and expeditious manner; performing financial oversight, office and, insurance administration, and personnel management duties.
Essential Responsibilities
- Performs necessary tasks for good patient care and assisting the Doctor(s) in the operation of the optical department.
- Provides leadership, guidance, and expertise to all staff members.
- Conducts quarterly discussions with each employee to document on the Annual Evaluation.
- Holds staff accountable for performance expectations.
- Provides input on hiring, termination and job assignments of staff.
- Orientates new employees to the office and insures they receive on-the-job training in their assigned position.
- Effectively communicates organization activities to the entire staff.
- Establishes a high-performance team that is efficient, knowledgeable, service-oriented, sharing responsibility for attaining the goals of the practice.
- Implements all operational systems including: Employee Manual, Scheduling and Telephone System.
- Processes and coordinates patient/insurance collections.
- Procedure titled, "processing daily and weekly reports", to ensure all reports are ran, reviewed and action taken when necessary.
- Ensures insurance verification process is completed.
- Maximizes electronic claim submissions to insurance companies.
- Prepares for secondary insurance submissions.
- Organizes, provides agenda and holds monthly staff meetings.
- Attends company training events to include quarterly Supervisory Training.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required; some college preferred
- Optician License required
- Prefer two years of Supervisory experience
- Computer skills and good oral communication required
- Strong leadership background
