The Pursuit Strategist is responsible for the end-to-end bid management of complex pursuits and all associated work‑streams. Additionally, the Pursuit Strategist will identify, develop, and implement innovative approaches to pursuit management and drive adoption to support a more effective and efficient business development support function. Working on the highest priority deals at EY, your expertise in bidding will give us a competitive edge and make a direct contribution to the ongoing success of our business.
Key responsibilities
- Support pursuit teams with a full‑service pursuit management model to ensure the effective management of the pursuit process.
- Develop and implement effective pursuit strategies, considering market insights, competitor analysis, and client requirements.
- Contribute to pursuit strategy sessions, organising inputs, managing outputs and driving action to outcomes.
- Manage the development of opportunity value propositions and client engagement plans.
- Responsible for quality control of all client‑facing materials during the pursuit whilst also acting as the ‘knowledge steward’.
- Champion best practice for pursuit strategy and tactics including acting as the interlock for wider EY ‘enablement’ functions/capabilities.
- Lead post pursuit analysis and review; make recommendations for process improvement.
- Maintain relationships with other Deal Activation and business development teams and subject matter experts across the organisation.
- Contribute to and champion best‑practice pursuit management tools and processes.
- Influence / challenge teams on pursuit related matters to optimise the probability of winning.
Relationship management
- Proven ability to influence and build collaborative relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Excellent communications skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to influence without authority, lead, and coach others.
- Versatile relationship style to succeed in a constantly evolving environment with a wide variety of social styles.
Skills & Qualifications
- University/Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required.
- Strong understanding of bid management lifecycle in complex sales environments.
- Excellent project and team management (incl. ability to manage large data sets) with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Solution-oriented, with the ability to make sound decisions quickly, given tight timeframes.
- Proven ability to influence and build collaborative relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Deep data and analytical skills.
- Team player with ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Experience
- 5+ years’ experience of pursuit/bid management experience in a corporate and/or professional services complex sales environment and/or a consultancy/IT environment.
- Proven track record in playing a key role in delivering and winning pursuits.
- Experience working in a cross‑border, multi‑cultural environment.
