The Global Core Tax Sub-Service Line (SSL) Director of Operations (DOO) is responsible for providing executive support to the Global Core Tax SSL Leader. The DOO will drive day-to-day activities and processes needed to effectively run the Global Core Tax SSL operations.
Essential functions of the job:- Working directly with the most senior level of Global Tax leadership including the Global Core Tax SSL Leader, acting as a key business advisor.
- Driving strategic initiatives and day-to-day activities and processes needed to improve business operations and outcomes.
- Ensuring the implementation and execution of planned outcomes and deliverables arising from Global Leadership meetings.
- Leading and facilitating cross-functional collaboration with the Super Regions, SSLs and core business service (CBS) functions including Markets, Business Development, Brand, Marketing and Communications, Finance, Talent and Quality functions at a Global level.
- Leading and contributing to strategies for growth and transformation across Global Tax including a focus on operational excellence.
- Implementation and monitoring of projects/initiatives to specified KPIs and objectives.
- Building ‘executive-ready’ deliverables and communications and executing time-sensitive requests.
- Maintaining consistency of organizational and governance structures.
- Leading the preparation of Global Tax meeting materials, including Global and Super Regional Leadership meetings and other meetings there is consistency of operational process and protocols and the sharing of best practices.
- A degree of global travel will be required to attend Global meetings and other key Global Tax events.
The position holder will perform other responsibilities and tasks as required to achieve the agreed performance outcomes.
Analytical/decision making responsibilities:- Development of recommendations for strategic direction and/or ability to assist in problem solving as strategic issues arise.
- Proactively anticipates problems before they occur, defines the problems, and identifies possible/apparent causes.
- Makes key decisions and suggestions based on a solid understanding of the firm’s business objectives and own experience/knowledge.
- Uses reasoning to develop alternatives and recommendations for key decisions.
- Ability and authority to resolve challenges related to specific projects that are of varying complexity.
- Responsible for coaching and developing other team members and ensuring the core support team collaborate and work effectively together.
- Responsible for the oversight and execution of significant SSL projects and initiatives, acting as a key business advisor.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of EY’s organization, strategy and culture.
- Deep understanding of the EY Tax practice and SSLs including growth drivers, sectors and solutions.
- Demonstrates knowledge, skills and abilities concerning global business fundamentals, ethics and cross-cultural/geographical sensitivities.
- In-depth awareness of key market and economic issues/trends that could impact the SSL.
- A strong collaborative skillset and ability to work closely with stakeholders and colleagues to deliver desired outcomes, influence at all levels of the organization and maintain a high degree of professionalism and integrity.
- Highly seasoned project management skills and experience with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, as well as pragmatism to drive outcomes that are both financially sound and operationally feasible.
- Excellent attention to detail with a proven track record in supporting executive teams in a high-performing environment and ability to collaborate/develop thought leadership content.
- Proven ability to influence and partner with senior level executives.
- Demonstrates the ability to challenge assumptions and decisions in an appropriate manner.
- Ability to take a strategic view and translate complex issues into simple messages, practical action plans and tangible deliverables.
- Team player with strong leadership, people management and interpersonal/relationship skills aligned to the firm’s culture and values.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, as well as listening and interpretation skills - an effective communicator with the ability to present, consult and influence at Global leadership level.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with high technology skills.
- University/Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Business Management or related field.
- Excellent PowerPoint, Word and other technologies – certification preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in a professional services firm or large global organization, with extensive experience in a closely related role as a business partner or strategic advisor.
- Considerable experience of operating and influencing across multiple levels of an organization and working with global virtual teams/networks.
- Project management experience and masterful organizational, communication, and leadership skills, demonstrated by previous professional success.
- Proven success in building and developing a diverse team, creating an inclusive environment for team members to share ideas, collaborate and recognize differences.
- International experience preferred as global mindset required in this role.
