The UK government’s “UK Infrastructure: A 10 Year Strategy” sets out a long-term, cross-sector plan to drive economic growth, deliver net zero, and improve public services. With a £725 billion commitment, the strategy prioritises stability, private investment, and robust delivery across transport, energy, digital, water, housing, and social infrastructure. Sustainable infrastructure will play a critical role in delivering this strategy. The opportunity involves advising clients on their most complex sustainable infrastructure challenges, which spans multiple sectors and competencies. We are focused on growing our sustainable infrastructure programme and large-scale transformation delivery across a wide range of clients within various sectors, including Government, Transport, Energy and Utilities, Housing, and Telecommunications. Your Key Responsibilities include:

  • Management of EY teams to develop and implement solutions to help enable the successful delivery of Infrastructure transformation projects.
  • Independently analysing complex problems and presenting solutions to clients and the wider team.
  • Structuring and managing projects for transformation programmes, including shaping and leading change workstreams or smaller change engagements and projects.
  • Managing project commercials, risks, and issues.
  • Delivering presentations and leading client meetings and workshops with senior clients to provide recommendations and solutions to their problems.
  • Management of client stakeholders to achieve alignment and buy-in to a solution or particular direction.
  • Owning and fostering trusted relationships with senior clients that contribute to enhancing EY’s brand and reputation.
  • Identifying future opportunities within the client or broader Infrastructure sector.
  • Providing leadership, training, coaching, and guidance to junior staff.
  • Contributing to business development, using knowledge of the Infrastructure market to draft innovative proposals.
  • Contributing to internal practice development, around the Infrastructure market in general but also within change and our Workforce Advisory Practice.
  • Contributing to EY’s positioning across the UK (and global) infrastructure market, through an active social media presence, and thought leadership development.

Skills And Attributes For Success:

  • A strong understanding of, and interest in, the UK Infrastructure sector including HMG commitments such as National Infrastructure Strategy and Ten Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution.
  • Knowledge of sustainability and climate change challenges across industries.
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following sectors: Energy, Government, Transport, Power and Utilities.
  • Experience working in industry, government or a management consultancy environment.
  • Ability to analyse data and deliver insightful, practical solutions.
  • Experience of managing teams, including internal staff, clients and wider stakeholders.
  • Experience of delivering presentations to senior audiences.
  • Skills and experience in Portfolio, Programme and Project Management.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • Experience of working within both traditional and agile project environments.
  • The confidence to build lasting relationships and influence senior colleagues and clients in leading roles.

To qualify for the role, you will need:

  • This role is available in our EY London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds or Glasgow offices.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification or experience.
  • Minimum 5 years experience within the infrastructure sector, with specific experience in one or more sub-capabilities (e.g. business change strategy development and delivery, organisation design, workforce planning).
  • Experience of leading end to end change or organisational design on projects or workstreams on transformation programmes, with responsibility for delivery, client management, senior business lead management, commercials, leading a team.
