The opportunity EY’s market leading Strategy and Execution (S&E) team provides IT & Operations advice to corporate and private equity firms who intend to acquire, divest or restructure businesses. The team comprises advisors with specialist Commercial, Operations, IT and transaction experience from industry, advisory and audit backgrounds.
We are seeking to further expand our team with a Director in Deal Technology to work with our clients (Corporate and Private Equity) and across a range of sectors that include Industrials and Energy, Consumer and Health. As a Director in our team, you’ll play a leading role in shaping and delivering our Technology M&A proposition in the UK market. As a Director, you will operate as a senior transaction and technology leader, accountable for leading major client relationships, originating and running large pursuits, overseeing complex multi-workstream engagements, and building the next generation of Deal Technology leaders. You will apply deep technical and transaction experience across the full M&A lifecycle, including pre-deal diligence, portfolio review and corporate carve-outs and integrations.
Your key responsibilities:
- Lead a portfolio of large, complex transaction engagements across IT due diligence, post deal integration, separation and carve out programmes, acting as engagement lead and senior advisor to corporate and private equity clients.
- Act as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and deal teams, shaping technology-driven perspectives that directly influence strategic decisions.
- Provide deep Technology Strategy experience on M&A strategy and execution engagements.
- Hold accountability for engagement success across delivery quality, performance, risk management and client satisfaction, acting as an escalation point for critical issues and overseeing the development of major client deliverables.
- Drive business development and growth, including originating opportunities, shaping market propositions, leading major pursuits collaborating with other EY Parthenon practices, such as Operational and Financial Due Diligence, Corporate Strategy and Software Strategy Group.
- Lead on learning and development for the Deal Technology team, acting as a coach and mentor to upskill the team.
- Lead practice development through thought leadership, solution development, recruitment and people initiatives.
To qualify for the role, you must have:
- Led and delivered several large-scale IT M&A and transformation engagements e.g. IT due diligence, integration and carve-out planning, Day 1 readiness and TSA strategy and management.
- Experience of advising CIOs on strategic Digital and IT issues in the context of acquisitions, divestments and value creation.
- Experience of working with senior business and IT stakeholders to develop Digital and IT strategies aligned to business strategies.
- Experience of translating Digital & IT strategies into executable roadmaps.
- Experience of developing and delivering IT effectiveness programmes with a particular focus on IT cost optimisation and value creation.
- Strong experience owning complex engagements end-to-end, with accountability for delivery excellence, commercial performance, engagement risk and the leadership and development of large, multi-disciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated ability to operate as a senior technical and transaction authority, structuring complex engagements and confidently challenging c-suite stakeholders.
- Proven track record of originating, shaping and winning major pursuits, including building senior client relationships, leading proposal teams, developing commercial strategies and closing complex deals.
- Outstanding leadership and communication skills, with a strong reputation for building high-performing teams and long-term client relationships.
