EY’s Global Tax Centre of Excellence Data & AI team plays a prominent role in leading client transformation initiatives that leverage Data & AI as core capabilities.

The Co E seeks to architect reusable patterns and process blueprints to bootstrap scalability across all the EY Tax technology teams in key markets.

Role Purpose

The Data & AI Specialist supports the Data & AI Leader of Agentic Tax Processes & Platforms in designing, architecting, and building agentic tax workflows underpinned by AI‑ready data products and robust data engineering.

This role sits at the intersection of tax domain understanding, data architecture and engineering, and applied AI and agent orchestration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Agentic Workflow & AI Design
  • Design agentic workflows for tax processes, including task‑level agent responsibilities, agent‑to‑agent communication patterns, human‑in‑the‑Loop and escalation models, feedback loops and agent performance monitoring and evaluations.
  • Define reusable agent blueprints aligned to Lean‑derived task definitions.
  • Apply leading‑edge agentic design and build methodologies (e. g., use of Codex, Factory AI, Git Hub Copilot).
  • Data Architecture & AI‑Ready Data Products
  • Build AI‑ready data marts that expose tax data at the right grain, maintain lineage and quality controls, and support deterministic and probabilistic reasoning.
  • Build data ingestion and transformation pipelines from ERP systems, tax platforms, semi‑structured documents, and external data sources.
  • Agent Governance & Security
  • Build embedded agent and workflow governance and security, ensuring compatibility and integration with client governance models and technology (e. g., Microsoft Agent 365).
  • Design and embed real‑time controls and risk monitoring.
  • Required Experience & Background
  • 6+ years’ experience in data architecture, data engineering, and analytics, including SQL database building, database design, and data modeling.
  • Advanced certifications in AI, machine learning, cloud computing, or data engineering are highly advantageous.
  • Hands‑on experience with modern data platforms and AI tooling such as Azure ML, Databricks, MLflow, Lang Chain, Lang Graph.
  • Strong grounding in data modeling, data governance and quality, large‑scale data integration.
  • Hands‑on experience applying AI/ML or advanced analytics in production environments.
  • Proficiency in programming or scripting languages, e. g., C++, Java, Python and key ML libraries (Py Torch, Py Spark, scikit‑learn, Hugging Face Transformers).
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and a relentless desire to learn and keep up with technology developments.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical mindset for transforming abstract concepts into clear insights, requirements and solutions.

Desirable Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent work experience; higher relevant education preferred.
  • Prior work in Tax Technology or Finance platforms.
  • Experience with agentic AI concepts, orchestration, and workflow‑driven automation.
  • Exposure to cloud‑based data platforms and modern AI stacks.
  • Success Measures
  • Quality and reusability of AI‑ready data marts.
  • Stability and scalability of agent deployments. Speed from Lean design to working agent.
  • Reuse of assets across clients and service lines.
