Corporate Tax – Senior Manager
Our Corporate Tax specialists within the EY Corporate Tax team work with a wide range of businesses (including OMBs, multi-generational family businesses, PE backed, global corporations and AIM listed) at various stages of the business life cycle (i.e. from start up right through to established multinational). Our work is a combination of both tax advisory and compliance, including tax advice in respect of matters such as M&A structuring, exit planning, group re-organisations, expansion into overseas territories and much more.
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and ambitious individual to join EY’s Corporate Tax team nationwide. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to work with our excellent existing clients, providing a great opportunity to build and expand their network and be instrumental in winning new business. The role offers the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting clients in the market to help support them as they navigate an ever increasingly complex business and tax environment.
The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and ambitious individual to join EY’s Corporate Tax team nationwide. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to work with our excellent existing clients, providing a great opportunity to build and expand their network and be instrumental in winning new business. The role offers the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting clients in the market to help support them as they navigate an ever increasingly complex business and tax environment.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Management of the successful delivery of technically complex and demanding consulting projects for their clients, ensuring technical excellence and practical / business driven approach taken
- Build and maintain relationships with clients
- Proactive business development to win new work
- Provision of development support to junior members of the team through effective supervision, coaching and mentoring
- Contribution to people initiatives, including retaining and training our team
Skills And Attributes For Success
- Strong tax technical skills – corporate tax specialist
- Strong client relationship management skills with ability to develop quality outputs
- Client centric mindset
- Strategically and commercially aware
- Excellent communicator in a range of situations both written and oral
- Negotiation skills, able to sustain opinion and handle challenges
- Business development skills, able to identify and convert opportunities to sell work
- Effective time management, ability to remain calm when under pressure to meet deadlines
- Good knowledge of advising a range of companies including Owner Managed, Family Owned and PE backed.
To qualify for the role you must have
- ICAS / ACA / CTA / Tax Inspectors with full Technical Training course / Law qualification / Tax specialist qualification / or breadth of knowledge equivalent to a Tax specialist qualification
- Strong tax technical skills – corporate tax specialist
- Business development skills, able to identify and convert opportunities to sell work
- Experience of coaching and developing more junior staff
Ideally you’ll also have
- Project management skills, plan and prioritize work, meet deadlines, monitor own budget
- Ability to solve problems creatively and pragmatically
- Knowledge/appreciation of personal taxes to the extent shareholder/management team involvement in corporate tax structuring
