EY is seeking a Consultant to become part of our Credit Risk team. With industry-wide emphasis fuelling rapid growth in Credit Risk, it presents an ideal opportunity to join our esteemed, diverse group. You will collaborate with a variety of highly knowledgeable well-informed colleagues on some of the most interesting engagements in the sector.

Our Credit Risk team works closely with other EY financial services risk practitioners, as well as our IT Advisory and Financial Accounting teams, bringing together the range of quantitative modelling and technical skillsets needed to support our clients’ complex requirements.

We offer our clients comprehensive solutions to industry wide challenges, including IFRS 9, Stress Testing, IRB and Basel, Model Risk Management, capital management, credit automation, model re-platforming and many others. Through our delivery, we apply a wide range of traditional modelling skills sets as well as newer more tech-enabled ones, such as machine learning and Generative AI.

Our Credit Risk team operates from offices in London, Manchester and Edinburgh and are open to discussions about the base location that suits. We also support flexible working.

Your key responsibilities

The successful Consultant will support client engagements and internal projects, including identification of risks and issues with senior members of the team. In line with our commitment to quality, you will determine that work is of a high quality and is reviewed by the next-level reviewer.

As a Consultant in the team you can expect to be involved in the following activities:

  • Participate in Credit Risk engagements
  • Work effectively as a team member sharing responsibility, providing support, maintaining communication, and updating senior team members on progress
  • Assist in preparing reports and schedules that will be delivered to clients and other parties
  • Start to develop relationships with clients while building strong internal connections within the advisory practice and across other services
  • Maintain an educational program to continually develop personal skills

Skills and attributes for success

We are looking for confident communicators, who can demonstrate strong technical problem-solving skills. You will be a confident and credible communicator who can demonstrate some credit risk experience and commercial understanding. You should also be comfortable working as a team member who has a real desire to share responsibility and provide support to your colleagues, whilst maintaining constant communication on the progress of engagements.

To qualify for the role you must have some or the following:

  • Experience in Financial Services, either as part of an institution; in an advisory or business consulting capacity to such organisations or in the regulation of such institutions.
  • Strong academic background with a Bachelor\’s degree in a quantitative subjects (Computational Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, Economics or Physics preferred) or equivalent.
  • Preferably knowledge of Credit Risk & Financial Services Regulation – such as IRB or stress testing or IFRS9
  • Experience in some of the following software development environments is required:Python / SAS / SQL / R / VBA
  • UK project experience
  • Passion and ambition to drive your career in a well-established organisation
  • Soft skills including teamwork, collaboration, inclusiveness, flexibility, proactiveness, and motivation
