The opportunity

At EY-Parthenon, our unique combination of transformative strategy, transactions, tax and corporate finance delivers real-world value – solutions that work in practice, not just on paper.

Benefiting from EY’s full spectrum of services, we’ve reimagined strategic consulting to work in a world of increasing complexity.

With deep functional and sector expertise, paired with innovative AI-powered technology and an investor mindset, we partner with CEOs, boards, private equity and governments every step of the way.

Competitive business depends on intelligent, informed decisions.

As part of our experienced Decision Modelling team, you will help shape complex strategic, commercial and financial decisions for major corporates, private equity firms, other investment institutions, government departments and public sector bodies.

You will use financial modelling, analysis and structured problem-solving to turn complexity into clear, practical insight that clients can act on.

The breadth of our work will give you exposure to transactions, bids, financing and project finance, as well as business planning, forecasting, complex contracts and tools used for ongoing decision‑making.

You will work directly with clients across varied assignments, building your specialist expertise and broader commercial judgement.

As a Decision Modelling Senior Executive, you will work at the heart of client decision-making, owning day‑to‑day delivery; from agreeing objectives to producing clear, usable outputs.

Often working amid uncertainty, multiple stakeholders and varied data, you will exercise judgement over priorities and technical choices while supporting the engagement leader on wider delivery matters.

  • Your key responsibilities
  • Design, build, test and document financial models, analytical frameworks or decision‑support tools.
  • Work collaboratively with clients to define the decision they face and understand how the outputs will be used, scoping the support they need and shaping the approach.
  • Plan and manage the work, translating the agreed scope into a proportionate, practical approach and owning priorities, timing and budget.
  • Help clients understand the implications, options and trade‑offs relevant to their decision, using modelling and analytics to develop insights and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Lead or facilitate day‑to‑day client meetings, gather and validate information, present findings and maintain alignment on requirements, progress and next steps.
  • Deliver assignments independently with appropriate senior support or lead a small team, setting clear objectives, coaching junior colleagues and reviewing work thoroughly.
  • Ensure appropriate quality review, resolve findings and identify material matters for senior review.
  • Manage delivery governance, documentation and handover, helping clients understand and use the outputs, escalating matters requiring senior judgement.
  • Obtain representative feedback and use it to set your development priorities, while providing timely, balanced feedback and coaching to others.
  • Contribute to proposals, pitches and client opportunities, and support team initiatives that strengthen our capabilities, ways of working and market profile.

Skills and attributes for success

  • What we look for
  • Relevant financial modelling experience, demonstrating Microsoft Excel proficiency, problem‑solving, and disciplined testing and quality review.
  • Judgement to compare modelling or analytical options and select an approach suited to the client’s requirements.
  • Curiosity about how organisations work, with the financial and commercial judgement to identify key drivers and connect the purpose, users and outputs to the client’s decision.
  • Experience taking substantial responsibility for delivery, working directly with clients, building effective relationships and managing expectations.
  • Attention to detail and the confidence to structure unfamiliar or ill‑defined problems, clarify what is needed and assess options and trade‑offs.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to listen, understand the audience and present information in a way that supports understanding and action.
  • Experience managing quality, scope, timing and budget, maintaining clear plans and project records, and identifying and escalating delivery risks.
  • Collaborative working, including coordinating specialist input and seeking senior advice when needed.
  • Commitment to your own development and to helping others grow through constructive feedback, coaching and knowledge‑sharing.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to recognise opportunities to create further client value.
  • Ideally, you’ll also have
  • ACA, ACCA or another relevant finance qualification; a numerate or analytical degree; or relevant professional experience.
  • Experience of modelling or analytical approaches beyond typical financial models.
  • Experience with complementary tools such as Power Query, Power BI, VBA or other data and visualisation platforms.
  • Confidence working with large or less structured datasets, including source‑system extracts.
  • Experience evaluating where approved AI‑enabled tools can improve productivity, quality or delivery, leading practical improvements and helping colleagues use them effectively and responsibly, with appropriate validation, confidentiality and human review.
  • Experience contributing to proposals, pitches or new business opportunities.
  • Experience of independent model review.
