We’re seeking high‑calibre Managers with strong leadership capabilities and a demonstrated ability to contribute to successful payments transformation initiatives. You should have a genuine passion for driving change within the payments industry, and the motivation to help clients realise their business potential through innovative solutions and collaboration within the payments ecosystem.

The Banking & Payments Transformation team brings together a deep knowledge of banking and payments industry trends and strong execution experience to help our clients develop and execute their transformation agendas and deliver on strategic business objectives. Our clients are facing increasing pressure from regulators to improve customer outcomes and reduce systemic risk; from shareholders to improve returns through improved efficiency and reduce cost; and from customers to deliver seamless, digital and customer‑friendly services which match those being offered by traditional and new, often fully digital competitors.

Your key responsibilities

  • Lead workstream delivery on critical payment transformation programs addressing consumer, corporate, & card payments ensuring high‑quality outcomes that meet client objectives, timelines, and budgets while managing cross‑functional teams and stakeholder expectations.
  • Shape the design of scalable and sustainable operating models and reengineer business processes to drive efficiency, reduce complexity and enhance agility.
  • Translate programme objectives into clear and actionable execution roadmaps and detailed delivery workplans, deliverables and artefacts.
  • Monitor and analyse industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies in payments to inform programme approaches and support thought leadership initiatives.
  • Support business development efforts by contributing to proposal development, client pursuits, and the formulation of insightful hypotheses and market analysis.
  • Coach and develop junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high‑performance team environment.
  • Apply EY methodologies and tools effectively, promoting technical excellence and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Uphold EY’s quality standards, professional ethics, and risk management practices, ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory requirements while protecting client and public interests.

To qualify for the role, you must have some or all the following

  • Proven experience in the payments industry or relevant roles within financial services, with a solid understanding of payment products, services, operating models and regulatory expectations.
  • Familiarity with key payments ecosystem components, including real‑time payments, open banking, cross‑border payments, and payments risk/fraud management.
  • Hands‑on experience supporting or leading transformation initiatives involving operating model design, process optimisation, and control framework development within payments or related financial services domains.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage workstreams, coordinate stakeholders, and contribute to project delivery within complex, multi‑disciplinary programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate strategic objectives into actionable plans and deliverables.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with clients and internal teams at various levels.
  • Commercial awareness and a proactive mindset towards business development and client relationship support.
  • A collaborative approach with a commitment to mentoring junior team members and contributing to a positive team culture.

Success in this role would be measured by your ability to

  • Support the origination of client engagements by contributing to proposal development, client relationship management, and execution excellence.
  • Lead and manage high‑quality workstreams within payments transformation programs, ensuring timely delivery of impactful solutions that meet client objectives and maintain rigorous standards.
  • Effectively manage stakeholders, proactively identify and mitigate risks, and uphold strong governance practices to ensure programme/workstream integrity and alignment with client expectations.
  • Actively contribute to the development and refinement of the firm’s Payments Transformation propositions, leveraging market insights and client feedback to enhance service offerings.
  • Foster team capability growth by mentoring junior colleagues, sharing knowledge, & promoting a collaborative, inclusive, & high‑performance culture.
