The UK Healthcare market is at an inflection point: demand is rising, capacity is constrained, and the system is accelerating digital transformation—creating a once-in-a-generation opportunity to improve outcomes and productivity through AI and data. We are seeking to expand our AI and Data team to add Directors to work alongside a team who are delivering impact and value for our health clients across the UK or Ireland. This role is pivotal in driving the continued growth of our practice by leading high‑impact projects with our public and private health clients across the UK. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in leading and managing a range of AI and Data propositions for our Healthcare clients across the NHS, Private Healthcare and beyond. You will require deep knowledge of Enterprise Data and AI and its application in the healthcare sector.
Your Responsibilities
- Strategic & Client Leadership: Lead strategic relationships with Board‑level and senior executives across Providers, ICNs, regional and national health organisations. Act as a trusted adviser on how to use AI & Data to drive productivity, financial improvement, operational excellence, digital transformation, and large‑scale service redesign using AI‑ready data and frontier AI models. Oversee multiple complex technology programmes using AI and data, ensuring delivery excellence, commercial performance, risk management, and high‑impact outcomes.
- Practice Leadership & Sector Growth: Drive market strategy, proposition development, and thought leadership for AI and Data with a deep focus on its impact on the health sector. Lead go‑to‑market initiatives across AI and Data to drive productivity improvement, cost optimisation, digital enablement, and system transformation. Act as a visible ambassador for EY’s values and quality standards within the health sector.
- Business Development & Revenue Growth: Own and grow a significant revenue portfolio, with accountability for pipeline generation, conversion, and multi‑year client relationships. Lead development of major proposals and bids, including acting as Bid Lead for high‑value pursuits.
- People Leadership & Culture: Lead, inspire, develop and mentor high‑performing teams across the UK Health and AI and Data communities. Champion diversity, inclusion, psychological safety, and wellbeing across project teams.
Required Skills
- Proven experience delivering data, analytics and AI‑focused transformation projects within the healthcare sector (in particular the NHS) with a specific focus on enterprise AI strategy.
- Strong understanding of UK (in particular NHS) healthcare systems, policies, and operational challenges, with the ability to translate these into AI, Data and Analytics‑enabled solutions.
- Experience with large scale operational, clinical and financial healthcare datasets – SUS, SLAM, HES, ESR.
- Experience in delivering engagements across data management with focus on data integration, data quality and governance.
- Good understanding of modern data platforms (at least one) such as Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake or Databricks with exposure to their application in the healthcare sector for analytics and AI.
- Good understanding of leading frontier AI models and their application in the Healthcare sector.
Desired Skills
- Involved in IT strategy and transformation engagements (IT long‑range plan, roadmap, operating model, governance, enterprise architecture, etc.).
- Experience of leading and delivering complex analytics engagements in areas such as financial improvement, operational improvement, intelligent insights and demand and capacity and system modelling.
- Knowledge of AI governance frameworks, model risk management, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience acting as Engagement Lead, overseeing commercials, risk, delivery, and client relationships.
