The Sustainable Finance Technology team is EY’s delivery team for sustainability projects in financial services. The team sits alongside other sustainability financial services teams, specifically the Sustainability Risk team, Sustainable Finance Transformation, Sustainable Finance Conduct and Non-Financial Risk, as well as our dedicated assurance team (Climate Change & Sustainability Services). We see this as a real opportunity to directly help financial institutions be agents of change in the transition to a greener, more sustainable world.
The Sustainable Finance Technology team is looking for candidates who are dedicated and capable of helping us to develop and grow our sustainable finance business. We are seeking high performing Senior Consultants to join our team. As a Senior Consultant in our team, you will primarily work with financial services clients across sectors including Banking & Capital Markets, Wealth & Asset Management and Insurance, to help them leverage data & technology assets in their sustainability initiatives. You will bring your deep understanding of ESG tools, applications and data vendors to help EY craft new sustainability solutions. You will also budget and manage project resources, reporting to senior client directors during these initiatives. This role sits within EY’s Technology Risk practice and will focus on the use of data & technology to manage sustainability challenges. Client work will be both local and global.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- You will support delivery of ESG technology engagements on a standalone basis or as part of a larger transformation agenda.
- You will contribute to the development of technology services, approaches and solutions that enable our clients to meet sustainability objectives.
- You will help develop tactical and strategic solutions to sustainability tech and data issues through means such as data analysis, creating frameworks and/or working with developers to build new tools and models.
- You will support sales activities including drafting of project proposal documents, meeting potential clients, inputting into branding & marketing and managing pipeline as required.
- You will be given responsibility on ESG technology engagements.
- You will partner with other sustainability-focused teams within Consulting and other EY service lines to provide technology and data input that is aligned to their broader ESG strategy, initiatives and targets.
- You will build relationships with ESG technology vendors to equip the team with the necessary resources and expertise to help our clients through ESG complexities.
- You will provide innovative insights for clients and contribute to thought leadership.
- You will actively drive operational efficiency on projects through budgeting, billing, and resourcing.
- You will invest yourself in your junior team members’ development and success.
Skills and Attributes for Success:
- Ability to apply ESG data & technology to address new and evolving use cases within Banking, Capital Markets, Insurance, Wealth & Asset Management or Private Equity.
- Experience in at least one of the ESG pillars and of at least some ESG regulations and their impact on financial services firms.
- Understanding of financed emissions and the role of financial services in meeting global environmental targets.
- Experience in ESG data & technology change programmes implemented and integrated within existing architectures and environments.
- Knowledge of ESG data vendors, data models, common usage and associated pitfalls, as well as ESG market data trends.
- Working knowledge of carbon market data including MRV.
- Ability to translate business and sustainability requirements into data, technology and AI-enabled designs.
- Business analysis skills, including requirements gathering, process mapping and operating model design.
- Experience in solution architecture, data management & strategy and/or large-scale transformation programme delivery.
- Good understanding of agile and traditional SDLC delivery methods including experience using tools such as JIRA or DevOps.
- Understanding of modern technology such as process automation or cloud and how it’s delivered and used within the context of financial firms.
- Excellent ability to visualise, present, describe and use complex information, highlighting challenges and proposing solutions.
- Leadership skills and the ability to manage project workstreams.
- Intellectual curiosity, excellent problem-solving skills and active listening.
- Strong facilitation, presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Stakeholder management skills, ability to engage, manage and build relationships.
- Counselling and mentoring skills to support junior members in the team and foster their personal development.
