EY Parthenon’s Infrastructure Advisory practice advises public and private sector clients on transactions and broader financial, strategic, and commercial advice mainly related to infrastructure projects and programmes. We support government and private sector clients on tackling some of today’s biggest challenges including decarbonising the economy, driving economic growth and promoting inward investment by advising on the UK’s largest infrastructure programmes. We are focused on growing our practice as we respond to the UK’s infrastructure agenda and in particular large Government led infrastructure programmes.
We are looking for a motivated and passionate Assistant Director (Senior Manager) to join us in our London or regional offices; Manchester, Bristol or Scotland, supporting Directors and Partners in developing clients and identifying new opportunities. Your key responsibilities
- Leading small and dynamic teams to provide expert financial, commercial and strategic advice to clients, both on transactions and financial strategy
- Developing and nurturing a network across the sector to support business development activity
- Helping our clients make informed and robust evidence-based decisions through option appraisals
- Overseeing and challenging complex financial models, including financing structures, affordability, value-for-money, sensitivity and scenario analysis
- Developing debt and equity competition processes, including lender engagement, assessment criteria, market sounding, term sheet development and financing documentation
- Structuring and advising on procurements, including evaluating bids received for projects on behalf of project sponsors and helping sponsors drafting bids for the provisions infrastructure investment
- Presenting impactful reports to senior client stakeholders to facilitate effective decision making
- Driving key business development activities, including EY’s wider growth strategies
- Leading and taking ownership of origination and sales
- Contributing to sector thought leadership and helping shape EY's perspective on the financing of major transactions
- Building and maintaining senior client relationships across Government and the private sector
- Supporting the development and coaching of junior team members
Skills and attributes for success
What we look for
- An understanding of project finance and privately financed infrastructure, including debt/equity structures, risk allocation, procurement models and investor/lender requirements
- An understanding of UK infrastructure markets, including regulated asset models, RAB, PPP/concession and availability-based structures
- Ability to lead complex client engagements, manage senior stakeholders and make sound commercial judgements
- Ability to interpret complex financial analysis and challenge modelling outputs to support strategic client decisions
- Business development capability, including relationship development and proposal leadership
- Strong team leadership, coaching and project management capability
- High-quality written and verbal communication, including board-level reports and senior stakeholder presentations
- The ability to thrive in a flexible working environment as part of a diverse and dynamic team
Ideally, you’ll also have
- An advanced professional financial qualification e.g. CIPFA, CA, ACA, CFA, MBA
- Extensive practical experience within the UK public/infrastructure sectors
