The Operational Strategy practice provides clients with pragmatic, results‑oriented solutions that drive efficiency and performance improvement, helping solve their most significant financial and operational challenges.

  • Cost transformation, procurement strategies & optimisation
  • Transaction value creation, e.g. carve‑outs and integrations
  • Private equity procurement value creation – pre and post deal
  • Contract separation

We develop strategies and deliver value for clients, optimising operations and enhancing overall business value, leveraging deep sector and functional expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise clients across a variety of sectors, supporting decision makers in developing and implementing strategic transformations.
  • Take a leading role on the ground with clients as a credible and visible member of joint EY‑client teams, whether part of a large project team or leading on a workstream.
  • Play a supporting role in new business development: qualify targets, support pitches/pursuits, and prepare compelling go‑to‑market collateral.
  • Support practice growth and coach junior team members.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Professional services/strategy consulting experience, either wholly within consulting or combined with industry roles.
  • Track record of delivering cross‑sector programmes for third‑party spend: opportunity assessments, cost‑reduction delivery programmes.
  • Strong analytical skills linking operational analysis to financial statements and client strategy.

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience across multiple sectors, ideally within priority sectors: Consumer & Retail, Industrials, Energy, Life Sciences, TMT.
  • Expertise within multiple categories of spend, with understanding of key cost drivers and levers.
  • Experience building relationships with senior clients, influencing decisions.
  • Experience supporting sales & business development for professional services projects.
  • A track record of cost transformation with quantifiable impact and team leadership.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience producing high‑calibre reports and presentations.
