What role you will play in our team
We are now recruiting for our 2026 UK Summer Placement Programme and we are seeking exceptional people who want to spend 8 weeks at our Fawley Refinery and Petrochemical Manufacturing site, undertaking a project delivering both business value and personal development.
While on placement with ExxonMobil you will have support and guidance from managers, supervisors and more recent graduates to enable you to apply your degree knowledge and work on a real life business challenge, gaining confidence and experience as an individual, and learning how to be effective in a real operational environment.
What you will do
Placement students work in pairs or small teams to address a real-life plant challenge. You could find yourself designing, coordinating, and analysing a plant optimisation trial or scoping a small capital project.
There will be opportunities to think independently, take initiative and be innovative. You will receive training, supervision and coaching support, and have opportunities to interact with our highly skilled Manufacturing team and experience world scale Chemical Engineering operations.
About you
To be eligible for this role, you must:
- Be starting your final year in Autumn 2026
- Be expecting a minimum of a 2:1 Bachelors in Chemical Engineering
- Be seeking to gain work experience on 8 weeks paid Summer Placement commencing in July 2026
Successful candidates should possess a broad range of personal effectiveness and leadership skills, with the ability to facilitate and influence business decisions in a team environment.
