What role you will play in our team
We are now recruiting for our 2026-7 UK Industrial Placement Programme and we are seeking exceptional people who we can empower to think independently, take initiative and be innovative. While on placement with ExxonMobil you will have support and guidance from managers, supervisors and recent graduates to enable you to apply your degree knowledge and fulfil your potential, gaining confidence and experience as an individual, and learning new skills in a real operational environment.
What you will do
Our Mechanical Engineering job roles cover many exciting work areas – we’ll give you the opportunity to experience a variety of work projects and contribute to the success of our team. You could find yourself developing the mechanical integrity plan for critical equipment, exploring new inspection techniques, completing onsite inspections and developing repair plans, analysing equipment health data, troubleshooting plant operation issues and providing technical support or leading one of our many other work items. Whichever team you start in, you’ll have real responsibility from day one and we’ll provide a supportive learning environment, where you can develop a solid foundation of professional skills. The first month of your placement will set you up for success with a comprehensive induction and handover program. You’ll have the chance to experience large scale operations first hand and grow your on‑site skills and experience. As your placement progresses you’ll have opportunity to seek out and take on technical projects that advance both the business and your personal development.
About you
To be eligible for this role, you should:
- Be expecting a minimum of a 2:1 degree in Mechanical Engineering, or similar degree course.
- Be seeking to gain work experience on a 13 month paid Industrial Placement commencing in July 2026.
Successful candidates should possess a broad range of personal effectiveness and leadership skills, with the ability to facilitate and influence business decisions in a team environment.
