What you will do

The programme is designed to build a career platform of technical, industry and specialist knowledge. It will give you the tools and opportunity to establish your own career path in various senior engineering positions and allow you to explore gaining further professional registration such as chartership, with support via our accredited IChemE mentoring programme. There are a range of different roles available to graduate chemical engineers at ExxonMobil, including the below:

  • Contact Engineer – You could be providing daily technical support as part of a team on a unit ensuring on-grade production that meets global market demand
  • Process Safety Engineer or Environmental Engineer – Protecting our people, local communities and the environment by identifying and mitigating potential risks
  • Supply Chain coordination – Optimising the profitability of the site through managing the movement and storage of feed, raw materials and products to meet market demand
  • Project Development Engineer – Responsible for project management and detailed engineering design of capital projects to make our facilities safer, more efficient and more profitable.

About you

To be eligible for this role, you must:

  • Be expecting at least a 2:1 degree in Chemical Engineering, or similar degree course
  • Be graduating in 2026 or have graduated in the last 3 years (2023-2025 inclusive).
  • Be seeking to start employment in September 2026.
  • Be able to demonstrate a broad range of personal effectiveness and leadership skills, with the ability to facilitate and influence business decisions in a team environment.
  • Be motivated to continue your professional development as an engineer and work with Company mentors towards IChemE Chartership.
  • Relevant work experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

Successful candidates will subsequently be invited to participate in a Zoom interview including a technical competency assessment. For candidates who successfully navigate the steps above, our final round is a site visit in early December.
