An exciting opportunity awaits! We’re looking for a talented Management Accountant (Fixed Term Contract) to join our Finance team at Head Office and play a key role in shaping our financial success. You’ll turn data into insight, manage monthly reporting routines, and deliver accurate, meaningful financial information to support smarter decisions. Working closely with the Operations Finance Lead and Management Accounts Manager, you’ll strengthen controls, streamline reporting, and help the team operate efficiently. We’re seeking someone with proven management accounting experience who’s flexible, motivated, and adaptable in a dynamic environment. You’ll bring a positive, analytical approach, collaborate effectively with colleagues, and build strong working relationships across the organisation.

Job type: Fixed Term Contract - 12 Months (Maternity Cover)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: ÂŁ38,000 Per Annum

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support to the Operations Finance Lead and the Management Accounts Manager in the production of timely, accurate and relevant management accounts.
  • Checking the coding of all items before posting to the ledgers.
  • Ensure income/expenditure is accounted for correctly, reviewed regularly and adjustments prepared and posted - including accruals, prepayments, cost apportionments and cost transfers.
  • Prepare variance analysis and commentary to budget variation and identify risks to the delivery of the annual budget.
  • Support Operations Finance Lead in developing and agreeing income/expenditure budgets (revenue and capital).
  • Undertake, with supervision from Operations Finance Lead budgeting and forecasting in accordance with agreed timetables with appropriate business engagement.
  • Prepare routine budget holder reports ensuring accuracy, completeness and reliability.
  • Analyse variations to income/expenditure budget/forecasts and work with Operations Finance Lead to identify and understand underlying reasons.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations for specified accounts within the nominal ledger.
  • Support the wider Finance team in the preparation of monthly and annual accounts, completing allocated duties as directed in line with the month end/year end timetable.
  • Undertake other ad-hoc financial duties as directed by the Operations Finance Lead and/or Management Accounts Manager.
  • Ensure that all duties are supported by documented procedure notes with appropriate quality and financial controls in place and with cover arrangements in place.
About you
  • Preferably studying for professional qualification - CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or equivalent (including CCAB members).
  • Strong experience with complex financial systems and advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
  • Solid understanding of financial controls, compliance, and account reconciliation.
  • Clear and confident communicator, able to explain financial information to non-financial colleagues.
  • Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a professional, non-judgmental approach.
  • Analytical, methodical, and detail-focused, with strong numerical ability.
  • Able to manage a demanding workload, stay positive under pressure, and adapt to change.
  • Flexible, innovative, and forward-thinking, demonstrating alignment with ExtraCare’s values.
