This is a unique opportunity for a qualified accountant with proven experience in the social housing sector to take ownership of a high-profile programme of change, delivering a modern, insight-driven finance function fit for the future.
At the heart of this role is the opportunity to shape and deliver a new finance operating model — leading the selection and implementation of a new finance system, streamlining processes, strengthening controls, and unlocking better financial insight to support strategic decision-making. You will work in close partnership with senior leaders across the organisation to build a resilient, agile, and forward-thinking finance environment that meets the evolving expectations of a large, registered provider.
Combining technical expertise, strategic vision, and change leadership, you will play a critical role in enhancing financial capability, improving operational effectiveness, and ensuring the organisation is positioned for continued success in an increasingly complex regulatory landscape. This is a career-defining opportunity for a finance transformation professional who wants to make a tangible difference, influence organisational change, and leave a lasting legacy.
Why join us? ExtraCare is committed to continuous learning, inclusion, and career development, fostering a culture where diversity is celebrated and everyone feels they belong. Our Investors in People Gold accreditation reflects our strong values, supportive culture, and commitment to ongoing improvement.
Benefits of the role include:
- 25 days annual leave, plus bank holidays
- Contributory pension (up to 9%)
- Buy and sell holiday
- Free life insurance
- Cycle2work scheme
- Attendance reward
- Free use of on-site location gyms
Role Details:
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week (FTC – 18 Months/Full Time)
- Location: Head Office, Coventry, CV3 2SN (minimum 2 days in office)
- Salary: £70,000 per annum
Key Duties:
- Finance System Implementation: Lead the end-to-end procurement of a new finance system (including requirements definition, tender process, and vendor selection). Manage system implementation, including configuration, testing, training and rollout. Ensure strong integration with wider organisational systems (housing management, asset management, etc.). Develop reporting capabilities to meet internal and regulatory requirements.
- Finance Transformation: Lead a comprehensive review of finance processes, controls and reporting. Identify and implement opportunities to streamline, automate and improve efficiency. Drive continuous improvement across the finance function.
- Regulatory & Financial Reporting: Ensure readiness for large provider compliance requirements. Enhance management financial reporting to support decision-making.
- Governance, Controls & Risk: Review and strengthen financial controls and processes. Support audit processes and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
Person Specification:
- Essential: Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent). Experience working within a registered provider of social housing. Strong understanding of social housing finance, regulatory requirements and reporting. Proven experience in finance transformation or process improvement. Experience leading or playing a key role in finance system implementation. Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to work both strategically and hands-on.
- Desirable: Experience preparing organisations for growth or regulatory change. Knowledge of RSH regulatory framework, including financial viability standards.
Key Competencies:
- Strategic thinking with strong delivery focus
- Change leadership and influencing skills
- Analytical and problem-solving ability
- Strong communication and stakeholder management
- Attention to detail with a focus on controls and compliance
