The Extracare Charitable Trust are recruiting for a

Catering Assistant to join our kitchen team, based at Pannel Croft Retirement Village in Newtown, Birmingham.

Catering Assistant

Hours

10 hours per week (2-3 shifts per week, including daytime, evening). This can include bank holidays and weekends.

Salary

  • £13.45 per hour
  • Applicants must be aged 18 or over due to lone working responsibilities and licensing laws regarding the sale of alcohol.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain kitchen and food stores in a clean and tidy condition. Maintain the bar/bistro in a clean & tidy condition.
  • Receive and check deliveries of stores, chilled and frozen meals, etc. Receive & check deliveries into stores.
  • Record the temperature of chilled and frozen meals on arrival and transfer immediately to the cold store.

Prepare and serve a range of hot & cold light food and beverages in a licensed bar/bistro.

  • Ensure the company Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) is followed for all food management.
  • Work unsupervised after training and alongside other members of a small team of volunteers and catering staff.

  • Ability to support the catering function and deliver a customer-focused service.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to keep the bar/bistro area well organised and clean.
  • Personable, an effective communicator and a team player.
  • Passionate about delivering a quality service.
  • Flexible with hours.
