Extra Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Buyer to join our clients Procurement team. This role is responsible for managing new tenders across the supply chain, from initial enquiry through to production order launch. You will play a critical role in influencing buying decisions, negotiating favourable terms, and ensuring the best outcomes in quality, cost, and delivery.

Buyer Responsibilities

  • Tender & Supplier Management: Manage the full tender process, ensuring accurate RFQ review, supplier selection, and seamless transition to production order launch while maintaining strong supplier relationships.
  • Commercial & Cost Control: Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and rebate agreements to achieve cost savings, manage material price variance (PPV), and ensure commercially advantageous supply arrangements.
  • Quality & Process Accuracy: Ensure all quotations, vendor setup, and procurement documentation are accurate and aligned with customer and business requirements, with no hidden costs or discrepancies.
  • Delivery & Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to meet RFQ deadlines, maintain delivery performance targets, and support procurement and commercial decision-making.

Buyer Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Buyer or Senior Buyer role within a manufacturing, engineering, or supply chain environment.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to influence supplier decisions and secure favourable commercial terms.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with experience working cross-functionally and with external suppliers.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Good commercial awareness with experience managing RFQs, supplier performance, and cost control initiatives.
