Role Description
Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, the Stock Controller is responsible for maintaining accurate stock records across a fast-paced site processing around 500 tonnes of product per week.
The role involves conducting perpetual stock takes, investigating and resolving stock discrepancies, and ensuring stock integrity is maintained in line with Extons' quality and food safety standards.
Working closely with production, warehouse, and goods-in teams, the Stock Controller plays a key role in minimising stock loss, supporting accurate stock reporting, and keeping the business's SAP (or equivalent) stock records fully up to date.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular perpetual stock takes across raw materials, packaging, and finished goods.
- Investigate, report, and resolve stock discrepancies in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain accurate stock records using SAP.
- Reconcile physical stock counts against system records and update accordingly.
- Identify and report trends in stock discrepancies, recommending process improvements.
- Monitor stock movements across goods-in, production, and despatch to ensure full traceability.
- Work closely with production, warehouse, and transport teams to support smooth stock flow within a site processing circa 650 ton per week.
- Support month-end and year-end stock reporting and audits.
- Operate FLT equipment safely to assist with stock counts and stock movements as required.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards at all times.
- Maintain clear, accurate documentation and reporting for all stock control activities.
- Regrade product at the direction of RM coordinator, supply chain manager or warehouse manager.
- Support the goods in & out team with day-to-day tasks in resolving stock issues or queries they may have.
The ideal candidate
The ideal candidate must have
- -5 years' experience in a similar stock control role, ideally within FMCG or food manufacturing.
- Strong working knowledge of SAP or an equivalent stock management/ERP system.
- Proficient in all office 365 programming, particularly excel workbooks.
- Proven experience conducting perpetual stock takes and investigating stock discrepancies.
- A valid FLT licence (counterbalance and/or reach, as required).
- Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Strong communication skills, able to liaise confidently across departments.
- Comfortable working across a rotating shift pattern.
- Must understand and adhere to the Extons' people policies.
