Do you enjoy speaking to small online groups or delivering training in person? Do you want to help give the best possible welcome to people new to Extinction Rebellion (XR)? Then this role could be for you!
What difference will you make?
Education is key to activism. We take responsibility for ourselves and each other and to do this effectively, we must empower through training and information. We run our talks regularly and the pool of speakers / trainers take it in turns to deliver whichever talk or training they prefer. To start with you would shadow the existing speakers to learn the ropes, then co-present, and then take over presenting a session when you are comfortable. We have scripts and sets of slides so don\’t worry about having to remember everything! Also, you don\’t need to know everything about XR – if someone asks a question and you don\’t know the answer, it is fine to say you will get back to them.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for friendliness, warmth, good communication skills, patience and a desire to help new people get involved in XR. You will need to show a minimum of three years\’ experience of this kind of work i.e. public speaking and running engaging workshops.
You will have good presentation skills and ideally be familiar with Zoom and Google slides.
