External Grounds Maintenance are a professional and highly experienced horticultural business, delivering and maintaining high end landscape projects across London to both commercial and private clients.
Due to continued growth, we require an experienced and highly capable Senior Irrigation Maintenance Engineer to lead on the servicing, fault diagnosis and repair of irrigation systems across our portfolio of commercial and domestic sites. This is a senior, hands-on technical role for someone with strong fault-finding ability who can also support and mentor junior members of the maintenance team.
You will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance, diagnostics, repair, commissioning and winterisation of automatic irrigation systems, ensuring efficient, compliant and reliable performance across all sites. This will include working with the senior management team on scheduling works, prioritising emergencies and creating a send report to clients. Work will be based across London and the surrounding home counties.
We are looking for someone with strong technical knowledge of irrigation systems, excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills, and the confidence to work independently across multiple sites. Good communication skills are essential, as the role involves regular liaison with site and client teams on irrigation performance and efficiency.
- Proven experience maintaining, repairing and installing commercial irrigation systems (essential).
- Strong working knowledge of irrigation controllers, valves, sensors and pop-up systems (e.g. Hunter, Rain Bird, Toro) (essential).
- Ability to diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical irrigation faults (essential).
- Full Clean UK Driving Licence (essential).
- Experience with computers, creating reports and emailing clients (desirable).
- Relevant horticultural, irrigation or engineering qualification (desirable).
- Knowledge of water efficiency regulations and smart / water-saving irrigation technology (desirable).
What’s On Offer:
- Pay: Up to £33,000 – £37,000 annual salary (DOE).
- Hours: Monday – Friday (occasional weekend / out-of-hours work may be required for emergency irrigation repairs).
