A leading global manufacturing organisation is seeking a Plant Accountant to join its Derbyshire operation. This is a pivotal on-site role with responsibility for delivering accurate financial reporting, driving strong internal controls and supporting operational decision-making across a busy, fast-paced environment. As Plant Accountant, you will oversee key daily, weekly and month-end processes while leading and developing a small finance team. Working closely with the Financial Controller, you'll act as a trusted partner across the site, ensuring financial integrity and enabling continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily, weekly and month-end reporting as the site Plant Accountant
  • Manage general ledger, fixed assets and inventory
  • Conduct detailed variance analysis and cost centre reporting
  • Review and approve purchase orders and payroll checks
  • Support budgeting cycles, central returns and audit activity
  • Maintain robust internal controls and drive process improvements
  • Collaborate with operational teams to provide clear financial insight
  • Coach, support and develop members of the site finance team

About You

To succeed as Plant Accountant, you'll bring experience from a large or complex organisation, ideally within manufacturing. You will be a qualified or finalist accountant (CIMA/ACA/ACCA), confident in producing high-quality reporting and comfortable influencing stakeholders at all levels. You'll have:

  • Strong management accounting experience
  • A firm, fair leadership style
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Strong systems knowledge, preferably SAP, plus advanced Excel capability
