Our client is a global engineering business with multiple sites in the North East. They are currently looking for a Commercial Officer to join them on a permanent basis at their site based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a company dedicated to sustainable practices and reducing the environmental impact of its operations and products.
The Commercial Officer will be responsible for assisting the Project Manager to deliver projects within their specification, time and cost constraints.

About the Commercial Officer:
You will be supporting the delivery of projects in line with the contractual obligations, the specification and the quality/safety requirements, in order to maintain or better the baseline budget and schedule.
Other responsibilities of the Commercial Officer include:
- Creating and updating of subcontractor and main contract final accounts.
- Taking responsibility for contract managing and expediting one or more major subcontracts, delivering equipment to company specifications, including the management of changes and commercial control.
- Co-ordinating purchasing activities, as agreed with the Project Manager, ensuring orders placed are on agreed terms, with management of those terms throughout.
- Dealing with contractual and legal matters alongside the Contract Manager and Project Manager.
About You:
As Commercial Officer you will have an excellent understanding of contract and commercial principles and processes with at least one year’s experience in construction and/or engineering.
Other requirements of the Commercial Officer include:
- Knowledge of contract management methodologies.
- An understanding of engineering concepts and construction processes.
- Good understanding of the construct and contract and terms and conditions.
- Proficient user of software tools.
