Assistant Academy Coaches split their time between assisting in delivering coaching sessions in their chosen Specialist Academy and delivering the evening and weekend activities, ensuring the students’ safety, welfare, and enjoyment at Exsportise. They will support students in all aspects of their daily routine while with us.
Skills You’ll Gain
In this role you’ll gain practical experience working with international children and young people, delivering and supporting coaching sessions alongside experienced Head Coaches. You’ll benefit from mentoring by industry professionals, including Ex-Olympians and leading brands (such as Arsenal Football Development and Acosta Dance Foundation), learning best practices in coaching, teaching, and student engagement. The role develops transferable skills in leadership, teamwork, communication, responsibility, safeguarding, problem-solving, and adapting to a fast-paced multicultural educational environment. There are clear pathways for progression, and you’ll work in a rewarding environment inspiring young people and building your confidence. You’ll create lasting memories as part of a close residential camp team, taking part in social events and helping students gain skills and confidence.
Main roles and accountability
- Share responsibility for the welfare, well-being, and happiness of all Exsportise students throughout their stay.
- Deliver high-quality coaching plans, including warm-up, stretching, cool-down, and exercise setup.
- Assist with recording level testing and progress reporting for each player.
- Engage with students during breaks, encourage positive behaviour, ensure camp rules are followed (including phone restrictions), and foster social interaction.
- Ensure all activity and sports equipment is prepared, well-maintained, and safely stored after use.
- Support the organisation and running of evening events led by Events Managers, promoting student engagement and participation.
- Take an active role in supervising students on weekend excursions and assisting with student arrivals and departures.
- Carry out mealtime, wake-up, and bedtime duties on a rota basis, managing registers and ensuring student safety and integration in boarding houses.
- Actively encourage students to attend activities, eat well, and interact socially.
- Foster inclusion and maintain a supportive, energetic atmosphere across all activities and boarding areas, acting as a positive role model.
- Follow all guidelines in the Staff Handbook and instructions from senior staff, including safeguarding, child protection, and incident reporting policies.
Additional Duties
- Participate in staff meetings and briefings.
- Assist with camp setup and pack-down.
- Undertake any reasonable tasks as requested.
