Sport Head Coaches are responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive and successful coaching programme whilst ensuring players' safety, well-being and enjoyment during coaching sessions. Head Coaches will lead, guide and support a team of Coaches and Assistant Coaches to make sure sessions are varied and tailored to meet the learning needs and goals of the students. Head Coaches will work closely with the Senior Management Team to guarantee the seamless operation of the summer school.

Main roles and accountability

  • Ensure all coaching, processes, and paperwork consistently meet company guidelines across offered programmes, leading responsibilities in mornings and afternoons with accurate registers and full student attendance.
  • Guide and support coaches and assistants, providing advice for high standards, appropriate pacing, and clear English delivery to support language learning.
  • Develop detailed, progressive, student-focused session plans adaptable to staff experience for Centre Manager review.
  • Continually review risk assessments for student/staff safety and well-being.
  • Take responsibility for welfare and behaviour during activities, liaise with Welfare Manager and House Parents for complete student understanding.
  • Evaluate coaches with constructive feedback, assess skill levels for ability grouping, complete end-of-stay progress reports, coordinate awards, and facilitate workshops on topics like mental performance, physical health, cultural awareness, leadership, and performance analysis.
  • Manage staff/student/parent/agent queries efficiently and guarantee equipment maintenance, safe storage, and end-of-summer inventory.

Additional Duties

  • Attend Sunday Welcome Meetings for senior staff introductions and register verification.
  • Participate in daily staff meetings contributing activity, welfare, and operational updates.
  • Adhere to Staff Handbook guidelines and Centre Manager directives with professional conduct.
  • Assist camp setup/pack-down for smooth logistics.
  • Undertake additional reasonable duties demonstrating flexibility.
