In this role you'll gain hands‑on experience working with international children in stables and residential settings, developing leadership, teamwork, communication, responsibility, safeguarding, problem‑solving, and adaptation skills in a fast‑paced multicultural environment. Main roles and accountability:
- Your role involves understanding the Exsportise horse riding programme and ensuring student safety and well‑being off‑site, including responsibility for discipline.
- Provide assistance to contracted stables and arrange transport to and from the stables.
- Offer pastoral support by listening to students’ concerns and collaborating with House Parents to foster a safe, nurturing environment, maintaining friendly yet professional staff‑student relationships without becoming “friends”.
- Support daily routines like morning wake‑ups and bedtimes, assist with Events Managers’ evening entertainment, ensure safety during trips and weekend excursions, and support airport / Eurostar transfers by welcoming arrivals and assisting departures.
- On a rota basis, supervise mealtimes, engage students during breaks to encourage positive behaviour and camp rules (including phone restrictions), foster social interaction, address behavioural issues promptly, and help collate weekly student feedback to monitor happiness and concerns.
Additional Duties:
- Attend daily staff meetings, follow all Staff Handbook guidelines and Centre Manager directives, and carry out any other reasonable duties.

Job Specific Personal Specification & Qualifications:
To be suitable for this role, you possess native or near‑native competence in English (minimum CEFR C1 level) with extensive experience in horse riding and stable management, plus experience working with children or young people, preferably in residential or summer school settings. You motivate and engage students of varying ages and abilities through strong leadership and teamworking skills, good communication and interpersonal abilities with students and colleagues, and an enthusiastic, approachable, friendly, and reliable attitude. You adapt flexibly to changing schedules and duties, adhere to safeguarding and child protection policies, maintain professionalism in appearance, conduct, and language, and fully participate in camp life including supervising meals, free time, and excursions. You commit to being fully present during activities by limiting personal phone usage to maximise interactions and act as a positive role model, demonstrate cultural sensitivity for inclusive work with diverse groups, take initiative beyond duties, and embrace feedback for continuous professional development. Ideally, you bring experience in other summer school areas like pastoral care, admin, organisation, or leading events/trips, along with a valid First Aid qualification.
