Communications Manager (Maternity Cover – Long-Term Contract)

About this role

ExpressVPN is a leader in online privacy and security in English language media, particularly in the U.S. and the UK. We’re looking for a talented, driven communications professional to help expand our mark in these countries and around the world.

You will report directly to our Director of Communications based in the UK, to further enhance ExpressVPN’s position as a leader in the online privacy and security business. You will also help build and maintain ExpressVPN’s reputation with external stakeholders.

Role Responsibilities

• Play a key role in supporting ExpressVPN’s Partnerships and Affiliate Marketing drives alongside core communications work.
• Support the development and implementation of external communication strategies and plans that deliver brand and business value. Collaborate within the global communications team; cross-functionally, and with senior leadership to shape strategy and craft compelling messaging and initiatives.
• Be the key comms point of contact with the BD & Partnerships team; advising on communications opportunities, content, events and marketing, lead on our B2B PR and communications efforts.
• Be a key point of contact between the engineering, affiliates and communications teams, helping to craft consumer and reviewer messaging related to product updates and releases.
• Act as the B2B agency owner and primary point of contact, ensuring delivery of key coverage and other outputs. Support and engage with our other B2C agencies.
• Build strong relationships with key media contacts and be a first point of contact for incoming press enquiries.
• Deliver a steady drumbeat of quality coverage, building ExpressVPN’s brand awareness and thought leadership.
  • Creatively translate ExpressVPN’s leading technology and/or product features into compelling, impactful stories for a wide range of audiences.
  • Leverage your existing media relationships and cultivate new contacts within general, tech, and other media to tell our stories.
  • Creatively identify opportunities for us to inject our voice and perspective.
  • Source, analyze, and package data to fuel coverage.
• Craft and edit press-ready copy—including press releases, executive quotes and commentary, and collateral—that lives up to our brand’s standards and values.

Role Requirements

• 4+ years’ experience working in public relations and/or media relations.
• Exceptional English writing and editing skills.
• Experience working with geographically distributed teams.
• Experience in consumer tech communications.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• Self-driven with strong attention to detail with a passion for strategic communications and public relations.
• Demonstrable experience proactively identifying coverage opportunities and independently delivering on them.
• High EQ. Get people excited about working with you and about our company and industry.

Nice skills to have, but not required (if any)

• Demonstrable experience of working with privacy tech products
• Experience working in a highly regulated environment, or working with agency clients in highly regulated industries
• Experience with the affiliate marketing industry
• Familiarity with PR reporting tools
