Express Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced Garment Cutter to join a specialist facility that produces PPE for the Emergency Services. This is a Temp to Perm opportunity, ideal for a hands-on individual who thrives in a physically demanding, production-led environment and is looking for long-term stability within a skilled manufacturing team.
This role is entirely manual cutting, using scissors and straight knife methods, and involves regular manual handling of fabric rolls weighing between 20–30kg. We provide additional training in pattern making, plotting, and production planning.
Roles & Responsibilities- Laying up fabric and markers ready for manual cutting
- Cutting fabric accurately using scissors and straight knife
- Preparing cut garments for sewing, including pairing, marking, and folding
- Logging fabric metre usage and batch codes to maintain full traceability
- Following production schedules to meet ongoing order requirements
- Creating markers and plotting patterns for repeat and future orders
- Adhering to health & safety procedures, particularly around manual handling
- Previous garment cutting experience (minimum 1 year required)
- Experience with manual cutting techniques (scissors and straight knife)
- Ability to undertake physically demanding work, including lifting heavy fabric rolls
- Good attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
- Willingness to learn new skills such as pattern making and plotting
- Hours: Monday – Thursday: 08:00am – 17:00pm, Friday: 08:00am – 13:00pm
- Salary: £13.50 per hour
- Job Type: Temp to Perm subject to 12 weeks in consecutive employment
